A new estate in Daventry has moved a step closer to completion after a planning application for its second phase was submitted.

The application by Crest Nicholson will see 175 homes built on the Monksmoor site in Daventry, referred to as phase 2A.

This phase of the development will be in the north western corner of the site, adjacent to the Grand Union Canal and Welton Lane.

This latest application will see Daventry District Council (DDC) determine the finer details of the scheme.

Planning permission was originally granted for the estate back in 2010 after a planning inquiry was held to determine three separate housing schemes.

The overall site will eventually consist of 1,000 new homes with a new primary school for the town.

There will also be public open space facilities, distribution road networks, ca ycleway and footpath network, community hall, a local medical centre and retail accommodation,

The application will be determined by (DDC) in the near future.
