A resident from the Grange estate has spoken of her disgust after finding 33 dog fouls in close proximity to a children’s playground.
Jacquie Ward has been working alongside Cllr Wendy Randall to clean up the Grange estate, which was plagued by grime, fly tipping, litter and dog fouling.
She said she was shocked when she found the dog mess in an area roughly 7ft by 6ft and just metres from children’s play equipment.
She said: “For the past 18 months on this estate we have gone to great lengths to clean up litter and get on top of the dog fouling problem.
“Because it was not cut properly the high grass makes it difficult for dog owners to pick up after their animals. But this is no excuse for irresponsible behaviour from dog owners who should know better.” The long-time campaigner said the area has become a “victim of its own success” as people from other areas flock to the estate to walk their dogs in what locals call the Heli Park, near The Stour, now that it has been cleared of rubbish and broken glass. But she added: “It is just disgusting; the point is you can clearly see there is a dog bin at the end of the path and another normal bin nearby.
“It is such a shame.”
