Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Daventry have added three World War I record collections to a genealogy website that users can access free of charge.

Volunteers have indexed new records of almost 100,000 names, giving details of British and American citizens who served in, and registered for, the military from 1914 to 1920.

Gary Topp, the project manager from Daventry said: “I have found this work very rewarding. Making it easier for people to do their family history research is my main motivation.”

The FamilySearch International website is sponsored by the church on a national level and the work carried out by the volunteers will enable extra information to be adding to a growing database.
