A FESTIVAL of singing at a village church proved a big hit at the weekend.
Around 140 people attended The Big Sing at St Michael and All Angels Church in Newnham on Sunday afternoon.
Amongst them were schoolchildren from Badby and Newnham, who joined in with the hour long hymn service.
The service featured a range of popular hymns which were chosen by people in the village.
Reverend Sue Faulkner joined Susan Rose and Jeff Lawrence to compere the service.
Churchwarden Mr Lawrence said: “It was a very good day and very well supported by people in the villages.
“There were about 140 people in the church which was a very very good turn out. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of interest.
“The children enjoyed getting involved and you could see how much they enjoyed it.
“We sang verses from 12 hymns which were played beautifully by our organist Eleanor Ransbotham.
“It was a lovely day for everyone involved and we will probably arrange something similar again sometime in the future.”
