A GROUP of fundraisers from a Daventry pub will be handing over a cheque for £3,406.

The six-member team of regulars of the Pike and Eel pub on Daventry’s Grange estate, will be handing over their hard-raised cash to the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The money was raised by Carolyn Gull, Sheila Butler, Danny Butler, Kate Taylor, Mark Bell, and Jake Okeefe doing a skydive in August last year.

The pub itself also helped raise the cash by staging a Caribbean night with games and live music in September.

Beverly Martin, who runs the pub, said: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2010 and we decided we wanted to do something.”

Carolyn Gaul said: “The skydive was absolutely brilliant. Everyone in the group was fantastic.

“The three lads went up first and came down, and then it was the turn of us three women. But by the time the lads had landed the sky had turned black.

“We went up and did our jumps, and when we touched down the heavens opened and they said that was it, no more jumpers.”
