BRAUNSTON athlete Sam Cullinane will be one of the first athletes in the country to get the chance to throw at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford in the British Universities’ U23 Championships in May 2012.
Sam, who will be 21 next month, is studying sport at Leeds Met University.
She will be throwing javelin in front of a half capacity of 40,000 spectators in the BUCS championships which have been given this tournament as a testing pilot for the Olympic Games in July.
The former 2010 AAAs Champion said it had been a terrible season for her with a back injury keeping her out most of the season.
“But I’ve been busy everyday in the gym doing strength and conditioning work and rehabilitation and hopefully I can get a good winter’s heavy training behind me ready for the spring.
“My aim is to smash the 50m barrier this season and put myself in the top six senior women javelin throwers in England.”
