TWO friends from Daventry have organised a charity ball to raise funds for a cause close to their hearts.

Lynsey Kitchen and Rachel Stevens (pictured), both 23, are busy with final arrangements for the black tie ball at Daventry Town Football Club on Friday, July 20.

It will raise funds for Diversity Fitness 4 Life, which is based in Long Buckby and helps get disabled people physically active and socially involved.

The friends, from Lang Farm and The Grange, are directors of the company and also set up Starburst Dance.

Miss Kitchen said: “We are trying to raise money for some new rubber flooring and specialised equipment. At the moment disabled people can’t use the gym as much as we’d like and this equipment would enable them to do so.

“Diversity has just secured some money for a new stairlift and these are the next big things we need.

“The money raised will undoubtedly change the lives of many and we thought arranging an event in Daventry may help attract more people so we took on the challenge.”

The ball will be at Daventry Town Football Club on Browns Road on Friday, July 20.

Tickets cost £15 which includes a two-course buffet. Doors are due to open at 7pm.

There will also be a raffle, auction, live band, performance from Starburst, disco and fun and games.

Tickets are on sale in the Daventry Express office from today (Thursday).
