Centre set to open

A VILLAGE family centre is celebrating opening its new offices with a fun day.

The Long Buckby Children’s Centre has now opened its office in the village and is inviting all families in the Long Buckby area to its fun day on Friday, September 16.

Doors will be open from 9am until 6pm and there will be a variety of activities for children as well as useful information for parents and carers.

There will also be different health and community professionals on hand to answer any questions.

The event will be an opportunity to meet staff and find out what is on offer at the centre.

Activities available include: face painting; stalls, and refreshments. Older children are welcome to attend after school.

Although the chidlren’s centre has been running services for some time at the village’s library and community centre, it is hoped that a permanent base will allow it to fully become part of the community.

Any parents or carers who want to get involved are being invited to join the centre’s parents’ forum and there will be representatives available on the day.

These parents will supply information about how the centre works and what more it can do for local families.

Ahead of the fun day, the parents’ forum has organised a table top sale for buying and selling baby and children’s clothing and equipment.

That takes place on Saturday, September 10, from 10am to noon at the Station Road community centre.
