DAVENTRY District Council ordered the company running Daventry Leisure Centre to take down posters to promote its Ladies' Night because they were unsuitable to be seen by children.
The posters showed pictures of two men displaying their torsos along with a picture of a drag queen and were promoting an event at the centre run by SOLL Leisure. The district council asked for the posters to be removed as it believed they were not suitable to be displayed in the leisure centre, which is used by children.
Jo Gilford, corporate manager for public space at DDC, said: “As the Ladies’ Night is for over 18s only, the posters were inappropriate for display in areas where children would be present and they were taken down with the agreement of the leisure centre management.”
The Ladies’ Night is on October 24 at the centre’s Saxon Suite.
