MORE than 1,200 families in Northamptonshire could get help overcoming their troubles such as lack of education and job skills, or crime or drug addiction with £2.7 million of funding.
The Troubled Families scheme will see Northamptonshire County Council put together criteria over the coming months under which people who are placing a burden on society can be helped.
The aim is to spend the money on intensive training or other help so they will be in a position to contribute more to society.
Among the county families to be targeted are those who have alcohol problems or do not have the skills to find a job and those routinely the subject of police call-outs.
A total of 400 families will be identified in the next year.
