An investigation has been launched after a fire broke out on a Daventry estate on Saturday evening.

The fire, in Rodney Close on the Southbrook, started at around 8pm. The cause is under investigation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the caravan was where the fire first started. It then spread to a neighbouring car, fence and shed – thought to contain gas canisters.

A nearby house was also slightly damaged by the heat.

Nobody was hurt and everyone in the nearby houses was evacuated safely.

Fire and police quickly arrived on the scene, and the fire was extinguished by 8.45pm. Fire investigators are now examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Police officers at the scene were talking to witnesses and knocking on the doors of nearby properties.
