A COUNCILLOR is calling on Daventry residents to have their say on the county council’s budget for the next financial year.
Daventry West County Councillor Chris Long is keen to engage the people of Daventry when it comes to deciding on how money is spent across the district.
A draft budget for 2013/14 will be unveiled on December 11 and will be followed by a period of consultation and a review by NCC’s finance and performance scrutiny committee.
The consultation period will include meetings on December 17 in the council chamber and January 7, 8, and 9 in the Blue room at the County Hall in Northampton for members of the public to attend.
Cllr Long, who chairs NCC’s finance and performance scrutiny committee, said: “I strongly recommend Daventry residents get involved and have their say.
“Members of the scrutiny committee will take these views into account when preparing their report and recommendations regarding the draft proposal.”
Their report will be presented to cabinet before the final decisions are taken on the content of the budget.
The final budget will then be published in February 2013.
