A BRAND new wedding venue has officially opened its doors in Dodford.
Dodford Manor, which is situated opposite the village church, held its first reception on Saturday.
After winning a long battle to get planning permission Simon and Annabelle Steele have been working on converting the Grade II listed building.
The venue is now complete and will also offer parties as well as charity and corporate events.
Martyn Parratt, who owns MJ Parratt Ltd, has completed the construction work.
He said: “We started last year and have basically completed an 18-month contract in 11 months.
“It’s an amazing transformation. It started from dilapidated barns and we’ve had to make sure we use the right materials to satisfy the listed buildings policy.
“For example rather than cement we had to use lime.
“It’s been a great project to work on and it’s been fantastic to work with such an enthusiastic couple.”
Mr Steele added: “We would like to enter some building awards competitions because the job the guys have done here has just been amazing.
“We are absolutely delighted and the relationship between us and the builders has been fantastic.
“There has been a lot of stress in terms of time, planning and finance and we are just delighted to be at this stage.
“We are very excited about being open. We’ve had tremendous interest and a high number of bookings so far.
“We’ve had 25 workers here on site and around 20 to 25 jobs will be created at the venue as time goes on.”
