Rural businesses could benefit from new investment

Businesses in the rural areas of the Daventry district could benefit from a new scheme run by the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership.

A new strategy has been submitted to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and is hoping to attract
£2.1 million to invest in about 70 individual projects.

It would provide support for rural tourism with the aim of increasing overnight stays by 16,000 a year, increase farm productivity and diversification.

Approval of the overall fund from DEFRA is expected in November, with grant funding available to businesses from January 2015.
