Residents urged to take advantage of energy discount

Daventry Citizens Advice Bureau is advising eligible residents to take advantage of the Warm Home Discount being offered by 17 leading energy suppliers.

The discount could save some electricity users as much as £140.

The discount won’t affect the existing Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

There are currently two different offers being provided by energy suppliers.

Households where the bill payer or partner is in receipt of Guaranteed Pension Credit fall into the ‘Core Group’ which means they should automatically receive the Warm Home Discount. If you haven’t received a letter confirming this residents can contact a helpline on 0845 6039439.

Other households that fall into the ‘Broader Group’ are means tested based on the receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, ESA, a disability benefit, Child Tax Credit or having a child under five.

Daventry Citizens Advice Daventry offered help for people wanting to investigate wether they are eligible.
