IF YOU are ready to party on down then a new store in Daventry could be right up your street.
Sarah Holmes has opened Danetre Party Shop in Sheaf Street selling a wide range of items to help your celebrations go with a bang, from fancy dress costumes to balloons and banners.
However it was her desire to spend more time with her family, including daughter Sophie-Anne and father Michael Sydenham that inspired the venture.
Mrs Holmes said: “When my mother (Lynn Sydenham) died, I wanted to do something as a family.
“I had always wanted to go into retail and thought now was the right time. I did not want to regret taking this chance.”
It is a radical change for Mrs Holmes who previously worked as an IT trainer at the University of Oxford.
She added: “I was looking through with my daughter at the type of shop we could open and we both looked at a party shop and thought that would be good.
“When we have been into party shops, they have always seemed like good places to work and people are always in a really upbeat mood when they come in.
“We chose to put the shop in Daventry because I am from the town originally and I knew there was not anything like this around.
“We were so pleased to get a shop in Sheaf Street because it is a pretty street and the home of independent retail in Daventry.”
The store has been opened since the beginning of the month and it is already starting to attract regular customers.
Mrs Holmes added: “There has been a really excellent reaction from people pleased to see us here.
“We have regular customers already. The shop is going well.”
