A MUM has launched a new wooden toy venture from her Daventry home.
Lindsey Wood decided to give up her office job and become a stay at home mum after starting a family.
She has a three-year-old son and an 18-month-old daughter, and the 29-year-old has now set up her own business supplying wooden toys, which she runs from her house in Timken.
She has named her new company the Teeny Tiny Wooden Toy Co. Ltd.
Mrs Wood said: “I used to work in an office in Milton Keynes but when I had children I didn’t want to go back to a full time office job.
“I love wooden toys and thought this would be an opportunity to start something from home.
“I’ve always wanted to work for myself and so I just went for it.
“I found some good eco and Fairtrade products which I am very keen on.
“Often wooden toys are quite expensive so I wanted to make them more affordable.
“Because I don’t have a lot of overheads for the business I’m able to do that.
“There aren’t many shops in the area that supply wooden toys any more so I’m hoping to make this successful and it’s been really positive so far.
“I know times are tough but I’ve managed to get everything up and running.”
Mrs Wood is now working on ways to attract new business around the region.
She added: “I’ve sourced three or four different suppliers in the UK and I’ve also set up an online store.
“I’m also doing things like charity events and baby and toddler fayres.
“My next one is in Banbury on March 4.
“I also offer free local delivery for people living within a five-mile radius.
“It’s going really well so far, I’ve had some great feedback from customers.
“People seem to be really happy with the products and prices.”
