A BUSINESS set up enabling people to hire hats for formal occasions has expanded after opening a new showroom.

Patricia Webster, who runs Pat’s Hats, based at her home in The Slade, Daventry, has a number of different ranges and styles available.

She has converted a room in her house into a showroom boutique to show off some of the hats, fascinators and tiaras. The showroom will have its official opening from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, February 26 and on Sunday, February 27, where there will be sparkling wine available.

Mrs Webster said: “I have always been interested in hats and it seemed the right thing to do to set up this business.

“I think there are a lot of people who will go to look for a nice hat for a special occasion and will wonder about spending a lot of money on something that they will only wear once.

“It is something different and there has been a lot of people interested.”

She offers around 350 hats for people to choose from and she can cater for weddings, for trips to Ascot and for people receiving honours.

Mrs Webster started Pat’s Hats back in 2001. But she only finished the showroom earlier this month.

Mrs Webster added: “It has been going really well so far, there are a lot of people who have been very pleased with what I can do.

“Not only do we supply hats, but we can also customise them if they want them to look different

“I go off to the NEC in Birmingham which is where I can get a number of different ranges from very good quality designers.

“The most expensive hat is £40 to hire with a £50 deposit but we have a number of hats which are cheaper and obviously, the fascinators are less expensive.”
