Bin complaints up 637 per cent

A REPORT drawn up reviewing the performance of Enterprise has found the number of bin complaints has gone up a staggering 637 per cent year on year.

The Environmental Services contract task panel, chaired by Cllr Wendy Randall, made the discovery when analysing the effectiveness of Enterprise.

The report, which will be presented to the scrutiny and improvement committee of Daventry District Council (DDC) on Tuesday night, also found tht litter performance dropped by 70 per cent and detritus performance dropped 33 per cent.

Enterprise were contracted by DDC and Northampton Borough Council to carry out bin collections and grounds maintenance.

The report states: “Unfortunately, the council always said that performance had to be ‘either maintained or improved’ but this has not been the case in the majority of the services.”

A series of recommendations have been drawn up to ensure better management of the environmental services contract.

The conclusions will be discussed at a meeting at the council offices starting at 6.15pm on Tuesday.
