Bin and recycling collections in the Daventry area will remain outsourced until at least 2018.

Daventry District Council’s leader Chris Millar made the announcement at a council meeting in response to a question from Cllr Wendy Randall

Cllr Randall had asked if DDC would consider bringing the Enterprise contract – for domestic bin emptying, grounds maintenance and street cleaning – back in-house.

She said she was asking the question after members of the public had approached her saying they heard the contract could be brought back in house as early as September this year.

Cllr Millar replied that the current contract with Enterprise runs until 2018, and there would not be any change until then.

However, he added: “We expect Enterprise to fulfil its obligations under the contract.

“Past 2018 all options are open. Whatever we decide will be the best deal for the people of Daventry district. It could be contracted out again, it could be part of a shared contract, or we could bring all or part of the services back in house, or a combination of all these.”
