There were several awards handed out to young volunteers at a youth centre in Daventry.

The Daventry Phoenix Youth

Centre Volunteer Award Ceremony was held at the Ashby Road venue on March 28.

The event was held as a way of thanking volunteers and acknowledging their achievements.

The centre’s manager, Lindsey Hawkey, said: “We had a wonderful turn out by parents, and also from our supporters, who we would like to thank for the lovely things they had to say about the centre.

“We were especially grateful to Daventry Town Council which funds the Friday Project, which has provided the training for our volunteers and helped fund the celebration.”

Volunteers recognised included Cain Powell, Amelia Spalding, Calum Prentice, Emma Robinson, Zak Freeth, Ethan Murphy, Charlie Spalding, Coral O’Farrell, Jordan Layton, Gracie Hayward, Annie Holland, Jennie Ashby, Layton Warren, Emma Wareing, Ashley Yates, Rosie Moody and Munashai Matika. Lindsay added: “We would like to thank the editor of the Daventry Express, Jason Gibbins, for being a fantastic compere, and everybody who helped on the day to set up and organise the entertainment. We’d also like to thank people from Daventry District Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Chris Heaton-Harris for attending.”
