A NEW assistant priest will be moving to Woodford Halse in March to take up a role at five of the district’s parishes.
The Rev Geoff Moore, who is currently assistant curate of Brackley, will take over as assistant priest in the parishes of Aston le Walls, Boddington, Byfield, Eydon and Woodford Halse when he is licensed on March 25.
The Rev Moore, 59, will move to the area with his wife Sue and will work part-time across the five villages.
An appointment for a full-time incumbent for the parishes will be sought over the next couple of months.
The Rev Moore said: “My wife and I will be moving into the vicarage at Woodford Halse, which we are very much looking forward to.
“I will also have a colleague living in Byfield, who is yet to be appointed, and when we both start we will be working together across the five parishes.
“I’ve worked in Brackley for the past three-and-a-half years in what has been my first post for the Church of England so we won’t have to move too far, but it will be a new challenge.
“In my new role I will be working the equivalent of two days per week and I’m very much looking forward to coming to the area and meeting new people.”
Prior to ordination The Rev Moore worked as a film editor for the BBC and he now works part-time on producing video communication materials, largely for churches.
