VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help out families experiencing difficulties.
Home-Start is a voluntary organisation that offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children who are experiencing difficult or stressful situations.
The volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience and are caring, approachable people who visit a family in their home once a week.
Volunteers’ visits vary according to the needs of the family, which might include offering an extra pair of hands to a family with several small children or providing a non-judgmental listening ear, as well as offering suggestions and advice parent-to-parent.
Home-Start wants to hear from parents, grandparents or people with parenting experience who have two or three hours to spare each week and live in the Daventry or South Northants districts.
The charity is starting a new volunteer course of preparation in Towcester on Friday, January 20 with an introductory coffee morning on Friday, January, 13.
The course will be held every Friday for ten weeks, excluding February 17, from 10am to 2.30pm.
If you would like more information about becoming a Home-Start volunteer or would like more information about the introductory coffee morning, please call Sue or Carol on 01327 353139.
