RESIDENTS are being asked to lend a hand to families in need this Christmas by donating any unwanted food.

Daventry District Council has teamed up with the Daventry and District Over Fifties Forum (DOF) and Daventry Food Bank to assemble some Christmas Helping Hampers. These will provide essential items and ingredients to make it a special Chrismas for people.

A list of items to go in the hampers can be found online and donations can be made at the reception to the council’s offices in Lodge Road until Thursday, December 5.

DDC’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder, Cllr Alan Hills, said: “These hampers could really make a difference to those local families and people who are in real need this Christmas so let’s help to give them a little bit of Christmas cheer.”

If anyone would like to donate an entire hamper they can drop it off in a festive wrapped box to DDC’s main reception desk. All hampers will be delivered from Monday, December 10, by Daventry Food Bank.
