A TEAM of greenfingered volunteers made a difference to a Yelvertoft pensioner by transforming his overgrown garden.
Ten volunteers from the Daventry Volunteer Centre spent four days last week transforming the garden in the village, which belonged to an elderly man, as part of the Brushes and Spades project.
The kind deed was carried out to mark the annual Make A Difference Day.
Jeremy Patterson, project officer, said: “We turned a forest into a nice cultivated area. It was very overgrown.
“We removed eight van loads of green waste, which was taken for recycling.
“We restored the original features of the garden.
“The elderly gentleman was delighted. It went very well.”
The Brushes and Spades project helps elderly and disabled people in the Daventry district with gardening, decorating and DIY.
Anyone who needs help in this way, or would like to become a volunteer, can call Carella Davies on 01327 300614 or Mr Patterson on 01327 300933
