A WIFE has paid tribute to a loving husband and wonderful father after he died in an accident last week.
Jonathan Wheeler, 33, died after an accident at the roundabout junction of Eastern Way and Braunston Road in Daventry while he was driving home from work on Wednesday last week. His Ford Transit van had hit a barrier on the roundabout however the cause of his death is still unknown.
Affectionately known as Joff to his family and friends, Jonathan was born in Northampton but lived most of his life on the Headlands Estate in Daventry with his mum Kathleen, brothers Graham and Stuart and sister Karen, before moving to Weedon with his wife Michelle in 2001.
Jonathan met Michelle in March 2000 and their relationship soon began to flourish. Michelle fell pregnant and in November 2005 gave birth to their daughter Lily Mai. Their son Jack David was born on September 27 this year.
Michelle, 28, said “We were married in March 2007 in Varadero Cuba. It was a wonderful day with our family and friends. Joff was so happy and looked so handsome.”
Jonathan worked as a block paver and ran his own successful business.
Michelle added: “Joff worked very hard, his motivation was to provide a stable home for his children. Family was everything to him, he adored his two beautiful children and wanted to give them everything he could.”
Jonathan's main hobby was racing Motocross bikes, competing every year in many different events, and over the last year he had become a keen fisherman, but it was his family and friends that were his real passion.
Michelle added: “He had two passions in life. First and foremost was his family, second was his bikes, he loved riding and racing bikes.
“Joff loved to be in his garage tinkering with his bikes or helping someone else with repairs, recently he bought and restored an old Land Rover; he loved doing things like that.'
“There was always somebody over to see him, he has a lot of good friends and he was a very popular guy.”
Michelle rang her husband at 6.40pm the night of the accident, but the phone was answered by a member of the ambulance crew.
She said: “My initial reaction was disbelief. I still can’t believe it, I don't think it has sunk in yet that he isn't coming home. I’m absolutely devastated as is everyone who knew him
“He was my husband and my best friend, words can never express how much I love and miss him.
“The biggest legacy he leaves behind are his two beautiful children. It makes me so sad that he will never get to see his children grow up.”
