Residents of Winwick, which has a population of just 70, have spent the last six months compiling a 120 page cookbook called A Taste of Winwick.

The book, which was launched last week, features recipes gathered from kitchens in Winwick and friends and family of people in the village from all over the world. It includes a mix of starters, main courses, puddings, cakes, jams, chutneys and homemade wine.

Alongside the delicious recipes are pictures of Winwick throughout the year and tales of what it was like to live and work in the village in days gone by.

Winwick resident Sue Sherman said: “We’ve had requests for our book from Australia, New Zealand and the United States, as well as all over the UK.

“People love our tales of times gone by and know the recipes are proven family favourites we’re happy to share.

“It’s such a great way to raise funds for our rural community – by helping people enjoy their food.”

The proceeds from the latest cook book, which is the second to be launched by the villagers, will be used to help fund projects in Winwick.
