Police are linking the seven incidents in which the offenders broke into houses and stole items, including cash, jewellery and antiques.

Two of the burglaries took place in Welford, two in West Haddon with one each taking place in Guilsborough, Crick and Braunston.

The first burglary took place between 5pm on Monday (20th) and 12.20pm yesterday (Wednesday) in Atterbury Close, West Haddon.

The next was in Welton Road, Braunston, between 9am on Tuesday and 9am yesterday.

The others included one between 9am on Tuesday (21st) and 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday) in Wakefield Road, Welford, and one between 10.30pm on Tuesday and 3am yesterday (Wednesday) in High Street, Guilsborough and another between 12.30am and 3am yesterday (Wednesday) in Thomas Close, Crick.

The final incidents took place at 2.20am yesterday (Wednesday) at Field Close, West Haddon and at 5.45am yesterday (Wednesday) in West Street, Welford.

Police are warning residents to ensure they have adequate home security following the incidents.

Inspector Jeff Winfield, from Operation Renegade, the dedicated robbery and burglary team in Northamptonshire West, said: "Latest statistics show offences such as burglary are very much on the decrease in these parts of Northamptonshire and our dedicated team is working hard to trace those responsible.

"I would also like to remind people to make sure they have security measures in place in their homes to help put off burglars. In these cases the offenders broke into the homes but often offenders gain access to properties that have been left insecure."

Recommended measures include keeping windows and doors locked and putting valuables, when not in use, somewhere where they cannot be seen.
