A TALENTED magician from Daventry has been awarded by judges for performing the best trick on stage at a recent competition.
Roscoe Birchmore, who began learning classic magic at the age of 14, was presented with the Llew Jones Cup for Trick of the Year, following the annual magic competition of the Northamptonshire Magicians' Club.

Mr Birchmore, a full time magician who performs mainly close-up magic in pubs, clubs and restaurants across the UK, chose to do a Chinese rings trick for the stage competition last month.

It was the third time he was awarded the trophy, after winning Trick of the Year in 1999 and 1997.

Mr Birchmore, of Ashby Fields, Daventry, said: "I'm very pleased.

"My routine won it for me, because it was better than anyone else's."
