Hollowell show builds up a head of steam for weekend

A VILLAGE is gearing up to host a popular steam rally at the weekend.
Among the attractions at the Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show 2009 on Saturday and Sunday will be 40 steam engines and 20 heavy horses as well as a countless numbers of stalls and displays.

There will also be 40 miniature engines, 100 tractors, 400 vintage cars, 100 vintage motorcycles, working demonstrations, live music from a number of different performers, trade stands, craft tent, stalls and bars.

On Saturday there will also be an auction of vintage and collector's items, while on Sunday there will be a dog show.

It is the 23rd year the show, which will take place just off the A5199 between junction one of the A14 and Northampton and opens at 9am, has been held.

Tickets cost £8 for adults, £4 for children and £4 for senior citizens, a concession which is only available on Saturday.

There will be free car parks with a disabled area and a free tractor and trailer 'bus' service from the car parks to the rally field.
Camping is also available and costs £7 per person per night.
