A THANKFUL man has donated £2,000 to grateful staff at Danetre Hospital.
Andy Shaughnessy organised the Draycote Dawdle held at Draycote Water near Dunchurch in April and through sponsorship money raised by everyone who took part, managed to raise £2,000.

Some people who could not get to Draycote walked five miles around Daventry Country Park instead.

He has donated the money to Danetre Hospital, following the death of his wife Pat earlier this year.

The Cawthorne Ward will benefit from £1,000, the cardiac rehab team will receive £500 and the other £500 will be spent within the hospital.

Mr Shaughnessy of Welton, who is hoping to hold an annual fundraising event for the hospital, said: “I’m more than pleased. It was three times more than I thought we’d raise.”

The money will be spent on a pressure relief mattress and equipment and patients information during recovery for the cardiac rehab team.

Hospital matron Rita Reeves said: “We’re thrilled.”

Vic Crouch, cardiac rehab nurse, added: “We’re very grateful.”

Mr Shaughnessy donated £700 to the hospital earlier this year raised though donations at his wife’s funeral.
