A CHRISTMAS fair organised on Sunday to raise money for a village pre-school was a great success.
The fundraisers for Barby Pre-school organised its Christmas Bonanza in the village hall with a range of stalls, activities, games and competitions. It was the first time the pre-school, which is run as a charity, had organised such an event.

Jayne Franks, from the pre-school fundraising committee, said: “It all went really well considering it was the first one we’d done. Everybody seemed to be really happy and smiley, and we raised £520 for the pre-school.

“We wanted to do something to raise money, and we decided on this to give people a relaxing atmosphere for them to do a bit of Christmas shopping.”

Before the event the pre-school children decorated paper plates which were judged at the bonanza.

The winner in the under-three category was Hannah Mold, two, with runner-up Tilly Hallam, two, and in the over-three category, Andrew Thompson, three, won, with Charlotte Hunt, four, runner-up.
