Timmy Mallett visited the cafe in Sheaf Street on Thursday last week for an exhibition of his work to mark the venue’s first birthday.
Speaking to the Daventry Express, Timmy said: “Evergreen Art Cafe is a lot like the TARDIS because it is a little place but once you get inside, there are a lot of big spaces inside.
“It is great for an artist like me because when I have finished a piece on the easel and am happy with it, I then come to somewhere like here and see it framed.
“It is like discovering a piece all over again.”
There were around 80 people who attended the event to hear him talk about the inspirations behind some of his favourite pieces.
He also praised the cafe for becoming a national pioneer.
Timmy added: “I think it is a great relaxed atmosphere to look and art.
“Because of the success of Evergreen, there are a lot of other places like this popping up around the country. I think it is great a town like Daventry can become a national leader in this field. It is something for the town to be proud of.”
