Madcap show lifts the new year blues
Review: The Ladykillers at Milton Keynes Theatre.
A SHOW full of mad musicians, a robbery, little old ladies and a diseased parrott is the recipe for a mad night of entertainment.
Based on the Ealing comedy of the same name, The Ladykillers has been adapted for the stage by Father Ted scribe Graham Linehan who brings a touch of Craggy Island fun to this crime caper.
It sees a gang of criminals renting a room at the unsuspecting Mrs Wilberforce’s lopsided house. They plan a robbery and their masterstroke is to involve Mrs Wilberforce in the scheme,
The cast bring this delightful show to life and Michele Dotrice combines dottiness and indignity as Mrs Wilberforce perfectly.
The gang led by Paul Brown’s Professor Marcus are all stereotypes but played well though I have now seen a different side of Casualty’s Clive Mantle.
There are plenty of laughs and one perfect to shake the new year’s blues.
