All of the very best in classic cars, motorbikes and planes will be celebrated at the inaugural Pistons and Props Sywell Classic this month.
The two-day event, held at Sywell Aerodrome on Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29, will be a showcase of vintage entertainment designed to appeal to lovers of nostalgia.
Historic racing cars dating from the 1930s through to the fire-breathing 1980s Group C sports cars and 1990s Formula One racers, will take to the ‘Racing Runway,’ setting pulses racing as they demonstrate just how fast these cars were designed to go.
Among the 50 cars taking part is Michael Schumacher’s first Grand Prix car, a Benetton Formula One and its sister car that belonged to his 1990s team mate Martin Brundle.
As well as static displays from some of the UK’s leading classic motoring clubs, there willbe high octane live action with single-seaters, sports cars and saloons, battling it out onthe ‘Racing Runway’ while on the ‘Sprint Strip’ Dragsters and motorcycles go head to head on the 200-metre straight-line sprint.
Chipmunks, Be2s, Tiger Moths and Tomahawks are just a few of the iconic planes that will take to the skies as individual owners and clubs fly into the show.
Plus there will be breathtaking aerial displays from Hangar 11’s Spitfires, the Trig Aerobatic Team’s fast and furious Pitts Special S-1D biplanes and the Breitling Wingwalkers, the World’s only aerobatic formation wingwalking team.
Back on the ground, a vintage funfair, the Wall of Death, and sideshows will continue to keep families entertained.
Music will be provided by all-girl harmony group Elle and the Pocket Belles and rockabilly band The Hound Dogs, with more musical acts to be added to the line-up.
Visitors can make a weekend of it by taking advantage of the camping facilities with live evening entertainment on Saturday night in Hangar One with a swingin’ 60s party.
Tickets in advance are £14 or £5 for children, aged 5 to 15, and for a family are £33.
