WHAT does Cats the musical and Britain’s Got Talent have in common? Well. of course, they are both talent competitions.
The story sees the cats come together for the Jellicle Ball and for one of the lucky felines, they will be chosen by Old Deuteronomy to be reborn and given a new life.
Britian’s Got Talent is probably a neat metaphor the Cats. Though perhaps comparing Nicholas Pound’s wise and calm Old Deuteronomy to Simon Cowell might be stretching the point.
But like the ITV talent search, there is plenty of singing, dancing and spectactle t o impress a packed audience, Particular marks go to Joseph Poulton’s Mr Mistoffelees for his role which is full of laughs and tricks.
In the end though, you know for all the razzle and dazzle, it’ll be the girl with the best voice who wins the race. And Joanna Ampil’s Grizabella singing Memory is sure to bring a lump to your throat throughout the song and worth the experience alone.
