A DECADE ago residents of Long Buckby defeated an opportunistic planning application for a waste tip. New tips were about to be banned and the applicants were trying to beat the deadline.
Tom Price is right, this application to expand a grain storage company is "the last straw", but it won't be the last time people try to get planning permission at the expense of their local community.

Charles Jackson is doing it here by pretending the application is eco-friendly when actually it wants to expand grain trading operations in an unsuitable location.

Permission should never have been granted for more than a farm sized store in this location. Local people should demand that this application is justified by a full independent audit of the environmental and social costs and benefits (if any) at at least county level.

We don't want a repeat of the last grain store traffic forecast, which is now being exceeded by 40 per cent.
