Tebb's Tips

Mike Tebbitt

Welcome to Mike Tebbitt’s weekly guide to sports betting. Each week Mike offers betting advice and one top tip.

With no major races due to be run this weekend Tebb's Tips signs off with a few suggestions for Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby, both in June.

Irish wizard Aidan O'Brien won back-to-back Derbys with Galileo and High Chaparral in 2001 and 2002. Another success could be on the cards this time with the progressive Fame and Glory.

Meanwhile the same stable's Yeats is a standing dish in the Ascot Gold Cup (June 18) but the eight-year-olds three-year winning streak may come to an end this year after a recent lacklustre performance at Navan.

Instead take a chance on Sir Michael Stoute's improving four-year-old Patkai, an impressive recent winner at Ascot itself and currently on offer at around the 4-1 mark in ante-post markets.

Two days' later the six-furlong Golden Jubilee Stakes looks tailor-made for Hungarian raider Overdose who might have won last year's Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp but for the infamous false start.

Happy punting and remember the old maxim – a 2-1 winner is better than a 20-1 loser!

Tebb's long-term tips: Fame and Glory in the Epsom Derby next month with Patkai (Gold Cup) and Overdose (Golden Jubilee) to follow up at Royal Ascot.
