Youngsters go GREEN for the day
Children at Braunston C of E Primary School, held a Green Day. The children wore green clothing for a donation and the money raised will go towards building fuel saving stoves in Uganda which is where thire partner school is situated.
GREEN was the theme of the day at Braunston Primary School on Friday.
In a day organised by children on the school’s eco-committee, pupils at the village primary school were encouraged to walk to school and bring in packed lunches with less waste as part of an environmental project.
They also looked into their carbon footprint and raised money for fuel-saving stoves for Africa.
Vicky Tant, who is in charge of the school’s Eco-Flag work, said: “Normally we have 44 per cent walking to school, that day we had 80 per cent.
“We also had an 8lb reduction in the amount of waste produced at lunchtime.”
