Make sure you vote in ballot

SO 158 Daventry residents turn out on a cold Friday evening to vote for a referendum on the canal and marina.

Councillor Chris Millar, leader of Daventry District Council (DDC), thinks a referendum is a waste of money.(Daventry Express, February 18).

How much money has the DDC wasted recently? A figure of nearly half a million looking at the other thing people don't want - the pods.

It has already spent 75,000 on a model of the boatlift. Does he want to tell us how much on consultants for the canal and marina?

At the meeting, 98 per cent of the people voted for the referendum and no DDC councillors attended to tell us how good it would be for the town.

All I ask for now is that the residents of Daventry come out and vote at the referendum. Yes, DDC hasn't got to listen but at least it will prove that we all want what's best for our town.

In fact why doesn't DDC call a public meeting for Daventry residents who support the canal?
