ONE of Daventry's longest established hair salons has reopened under new management.
Snips in Brook Street was totally redecorated and renovated prior to opening with a new owner in September as a hairdresser and barber.
The business also took on five employees and has seen a steady increase in customers as word gets out that the name Snips has reappeared on the town’s streets.
New owner Samantha Harper said: “We’ve had a good first couple of months, although it has been a little slow as people realise the business is back open.
“We’ve been trying to get the message out, given that it was closed for four months before we opened here.
“I’ve been a hairdresser since leaving school. I worked at various places and was last at Hairplay on the Grange estate before I left to have a baby.
“Then I decided to take this place on.
“It’s not been like taking on an exisiting business – really it’s been like starting from scratch for us.
“When we moved in the rooms were looking very tired, so we’ve redecorated, put in new floors, new mirrors, everything really.
“We now have a barber’s room, plus two separate rooms for ladies’ hair.
“Before there was a waiting room and a barber’s room – well we’ve turned the old waiting room and a back room into the two ladies’ rooms and created a sofa area for people waiting. Everything’s new here.
“For the next couple of years we really want to concentrate on getting the business back to being as established as it was previously.”
The Snips name has a long history in Daventry, operating as a barber for around 30 years from various units before it closed in April after a number of staff left the business.
