THURSDAY FEBRUARY 1- A DANCER who trained with the Royal Ballet in London has started new ballet dancing classes in Daventry and is already keeping local residents 'on their toes'.
Lorraine Heath has set up new classes running every Monday at the Nene Hall, Grange estate, and is already teaching a number of local people of all ages.

Her dance classes, under the LoveBallet banner, last for 45 minutes each and are split into four age groups; three- to four-year-olds, five- to seven-year-olds, seven- to 12-year-olds and adults.

Lorraine, from the Southam area, said: "I have been teaching for six years and dancing since I was two.
"I trained with the Royal Ballet in London when I was younger and I have been running these classes in other areas for about the past four years.

"I started classes here because it's not that far from home and Daventry is quite a lot larger than people think, along with all the nearby villages.

"I thought it was something the town could benefit from."
Lorraine explained that she had already had very positive feedback about the classes and they had been particularly popular with adults.

She added: "I had about 18 adults on the first night. A lot of people think that if you don't do ballet when you are three or four it's too late but it's not.

"It's a great way of staying supple and it's a background for all
other dance."

For dancers who attend Lorraine's classes and want to take it on as a serious discipline, she can also arrange exams through the British Ballet Organisation.

Details of the classes are available at the Nene Hall, where Lorraine has posted leaflets with further
information.
