IT'S quite plain to see that Northamptonshire County Council is never going to set Daventry town centre pavements above its many other priorities when it comes to keeping the county free of snow and ice.
In the grand scheme of things that may well be justifiable from its point of view so it seems that complaining about it is just a waste of breath.
So the logical question is, do we just put up with it or do we find a local body willing to do the gritting/clearing?
The obvious starting point must be Daventry Town Council. Town council, particularly on behalf of older and less nimble citizens for whom a fall on ice can spell disaster, consider yourself asked.
Can you undertake it, are you able to lobby for funding, can you employ some other group (those on community service for instance)?
You are local, and when snow arrives you are well aware what areas need targetting and when. If volunteers are the answer I would be one.
