I don't know if there has been many compaints to the Daventry Express, but I do know that there have been many complaints to the London Road doctor's surgery regarding the change of the telephone numbers from the old 01327 703333 number to the new premium rate 0844 732244.
Recently I had to call the new number from my mobile telephone on two occasions, the first call cost £1.10 and the second call cost £2.11.
Being currently on a limited income I feel that this is truely extortionate. If this had been to the old 01327
number it would have cost me nothing as my phone call packages cover all local and national landline calls on both phones.

Many of the less well off among us these days only have a mobile phone so as to save money on line connection charges etc and these are the people who are going to be paying most and can least afford it.

I now drive to the surgery for everything as it is cheaper to drive from Lang Farm to the London Road surgery than call on the telephone, as my car is taxed and insured anyway.

I'm sure that if the less well off among us and elderly of the area knew how much they are being charged to call the doctors they might think twice about calling or not call at all, and that could have terrible reprocussions on their well being, their lives or even their children's lives should they not call when they really need to.
I feel that the practice manager should have a re-think on this matter

and revert to the old local number for the benefit of all their clients. I would also like to know what percentage of the call cost is refunded back to the practice, and what percentage is paid to the system service provider.
